We are part of the Plymouth CAST family of schools. We are a Catholic school welcoming children of all faiths to learn and grow with us. The education and wellbeing of our children is at the heart of everything we do. Our Gospel Values of humility, compassion, kindness, justice, forgiveness, integrity, peace and courage are integral to our whole school community. We inspire all our children to do their best, be their best and have respect for themselves, others and the world we live in. Choosing a school for your child is really important for any parent or carer. If you would like to find out more about our school you are welcome to visit us to meet our wonderful staff and pupils. Homework
Homework is set weekly through Google Classroom. It is uploaded to be sent out at the end of the day on Friday and we ask for it back in the following Thursday. This can be handed in through Google Classroom.

The homework consists of weekly Spellings, reading and times table practice. Sometimes there may be additional homework set linked to other areas of the curriculum.

Reading
In class we read independently everyday. It is important that your child has their green reading journal and reading book everyday. We ask you to continue to listen to/check in with your child read and we ask that this is at least 5 times a week. It only needs to be a few pages but makes a huge difference to their progress. Please sign the green book as evidence that they have read and the page number they have read up to. In Year 3, we are learning to become more independent readers so we are also learning to record where we have read up to independently.

We use Accelerated Reader. This really supports your child's understanding. When they have finished reading a book, they can quiz to check their understanding. Your child is given a reading code and it is important they read books within their code.

Timetables

The expectation by the end of Year 2, is that you child can recall multiplication and division facts quickly for the 2, 5 and 10 times table.

By the end of Year 3, the expectation is that your child can recall multiplication and division facts for the 3, 4 and 8 times tables.

At the end of Year 4, your child sits a times table text based on all the times tables so that is is really important that they continue to practice them and become confident with them. Within Year 3, much of our Maths coverage is linked to being secure on the 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times table so it is important they have regular practice so that we can apply these in other areas such as fractions.

Your child has a TTRS Login. TTRS is great for quick recall and improving your multiplication and division skills and is great fun too!
