We believe in a hands on approach to learning and give the children as many opportunities as possible to explore and enquire about History and Geography. We ensure that we involve trips, activities and visitors to bring our curriculum to life.
GEOGRAPHY
As Geographers, our children will hone their knowledge of place and location as they develop a fascination about the world and its people. Our children will understand the world’s most significant human and physical features while understanding how people interact with and impact the natural world. They will strike links between the growth of settlements and industrial progress, discovering how urban and rural landscapes have changed and the impact of these changes. Through our Geography curriculum we will enable children to become environmentally minded global citizens for tomorrow’s world.
HISTORY
As Historians, our children are encouraged to question their understanding of the past inspiring a curiosity to learn more about the society which we live in and those of the wider world. Children will critically examine sources and evidence, establishing clear and coherent narratives through civilisations, empires and communities across Britain and globally. With this knowledge we aim to spark an excitement for History; to learn about the past and to be able to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. Through the teaching of History we endeavour to teach pupils to understand the complexity of people’s lives, including those of the present, the process of change, the diversity of societies and beliefs, whilst celebrating those differences.
